Kris Vavra is a home design blogger who specializes in reclaiming old pieces. She transformed her little chicken coop into a relaxing reading room with white paint and lots of easy decorating touches.
Chicken coop no more! Transformation can be so rewarding, especially when you recycle vintage pieces from an old chicken coop and give it a new purpose. Kris’s love for cottage style gave her the inspiration to transform her chicken coop into her own cottage shed with repurposed finds and good design.
The first step was to power-wash the entire chicken coop, then add a couple of coats of her favorite almost-white paint. Kris also added a fancy gable end treatment and a couple of turned porch columns to her shed front.
Kris kept the cute feed bins with the names of the chickens; they are now used to hold her magazines and books. The fabrics she used added texture to the space and gave it a cohesive look. Her use of old objects blend well with the rug and fresh paint. Transformation is something that can be done with a little imagination and willingness to give it a try.
Do you have a small outbuilding in your backyard that you are wondering what to do with? Or maybe you have an uninspiring tool shed that detracts from the landscape? With paint, siding, a cute door and some window boxes you can perform a remarkable transformation of your own.
