After more than a year of waiting, Lorraine Lerner finally has her new shed. And it’s better than she ever dreamed. After seeing She Shed Living’s She Shed Shoppe at last year’s Pasadena Showcase House event in Descanso Gardens, Lorraine knew she was seeing the missing piece for her expansive back yard.
The wait was totally worth it, and she delights in the 12 x 10 she shed made with reclaimed wood and restored vintage windows.
Lorraine wanted a space to linger, read, visit, hide, think and enjoy conversation with others. She wanted it to be beautiful so the structure would draw you into its essence. A “rugged” look to complement her farmhouse home was important. She is inspired by Ralph Lauren interiors and was able to incorporate her own furniture into the shed.
Lorraine has no specific purpose for her shed. In fact, she enjoys how the usage is evolving. Lorraine loves to have a space to call her own and believes the outside concept is key. “We all have rooms in our homes where we can carve out space,” Lorraine explains. “While this is good, I believe the ability to look out windows and walk immediately outside or feel like you are sitting outside truly feeds the soul. A Shed is a “small and mighty” space full of efficiencies. Easy to lounge in and keep maintained. Make it a place you want to go as opposed to have to go. There is a difference.”
